Increased Capacity.

My new Bannetons have arrived, along with encouragement from Andrew Whitley, one of my inspirations.

Orders have increased again this week, more Sourdoughs and now Sourdough Crumpets for Galleons stores. The recipe is here : http://brixhambread.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/the-new-improved-sourdough-brixham.html

I also started making Wholemeal loaves for Oats.

The samples I took over to the health-food shop in Preston went down well and there was some interest shown, despite my forgetting the promotional literature (well flyers)

All the extra bread I had this week didn't go to waste either, I made some croutons with the bulk of it, using up some Balsamic to give them a tang.

Being Saturday, I have just fed my starters, ready for another weeks baking, the Gluten free one is showing promise, with a bit of luck I can try a loaf next week.

  1. Hi Richard

So glad things are coming together for you. Well impressed. Can I make a suggestion. You were pushing crackers and the like a little while ago. I have just bought an Excalibur Dehydrator the 9 tray one with the thermostat and timer. I got mine from UK Juicers. With you selling to the health food shops I wondered whether it might be a investment for you to buy a dehydrator so that you could make your croutons and add herbs and oil to them and / or create your own crackers. They are apparently very good for making vegan style crispbreads and energy foods. Just thought I should mention as it would be a shame for you to miss a trick. If you search U Tube and the internet generally there are lots of recipes out there using flax seed (Linseed), sesame seeds etc. The croutons is a good way of using up any excess but have you thought about finely sliced dried sourdough to use like crispbreads. There is also the equivlent to tortilla crisps which can also be made but using up whatever is about and not waste a thing. Glad you have the bannetons as I had seen them online and intend to invest in a couple come pay day. Hope you and Yvonne are keeping well. Pattypan x

  2. Thanks for the comments, I have a dehydrator on my Birthday wishlist! I had looked at recipes for Tortilla Chips and other things, is there much prep involved in drying stuff? Some sites say yes, others no.
